March 6th concert review

This is an assignment that I did for my Band Class. We were supposed to write a 4 paragraph essay in review of my band's concert in the view of an audience member, not as a person that was in the band.

ACMS Band Concert

On March 6th, I watched the 7th grade, Jazz and 8th grade bands that play for Asa Clark Middle School In the high school’s new auditorium that a band first played in was in the 2012-2013 school year. It was these bands 2nd time playing this school year. The concert time was from 6:30-7:30 with all three bands in it. I think these three bands, 7th grade band, Jazz band and 8th grade band all did and look great.
The 7th grade band did excellent. Throughout the five pieces; Knights of Destiny, Space Journey, Junkyard Jam, Abandon Treasure, Zoom, I heard at least every instrument once. They had a piece that changed from 5/4 time signature to 4/4 time signature and also even to a 3/4 time signature. Asa’s 7th grade band had some slow songs like in Space Journey, a song that had three movements, the 2nd movement was slow throughout the whole thing. During the whole part of 7th grade the band didn’t seem like they messed up through all of the songs.
Jazz band was pretty good. In their first song, Rockin’ minor, a kid by the name of Tyler Johnson had a solo during the song. It was a nice solo, but it seemed he messed up a little bit in the beginning. The second song, 21 to 6 or4, Alex Steinhaus, he plays the Baritone Saxophone, had a lot of solos during that piece, but it seemed he was squeaking a little bit.
The 8th grade band was the last to go at the concert. Their first song, Mars: The Bringer of War, had a 5/4 time signature like the 7th grade, but it was a slower song. Their other four songs, The Great Locomotive Chase, Among the Clouds, Music from Carmin, and Adrenaline Fniges, were slow and fast during the whole songs, switching between the two. I think they did a great job on all of their pieces.
For the bands of Asa Clark Middle school, I think they all did a well overall good job. From slow pieces to faster ones, different time signatures and dynamics, they all did job well done on those pieces. That is all why I thing the 7th grade band, Jazz band, and 8th grade band all did a great job.
