This is a piece to work on my word choice and sentence fluency to get my grade higher in those categories. This piece I talk about me and a new activity I just stated.
Dear Grandma,
Sorry for not writing you back from all the times you've sent me letters or birthday cards, but I have been busy with sports and other
things. This is my make up letter to you with some pictures.
I
have done many new things starting this year, but I want to tell you about one
thing: I have started snowboarding and doing ski club. I wanted to do something
in the winter like ski or snowboard, but I didn't want to do skiing cause I
heard it’s easy to learn and I see a lot more snowboarders on TV than skiers,
so I choose snowboarding. I also started snowboarding because I don’t do
basketball anymore cause I didn't make the team for three years, so I had
nothing else to do. So far I’m not a great snowboarder, but at least I know how to
stand up and go down the hill, stop, and turn, yet my turning still needs some
work. Like all people, when somebody starts snowboarding, they fall, and I
have fallen too. Some falls have been major,while some have been soft. I've fallen were I roll over three times with my snowboard on my feet,
and I've fell when I come to a stop.
So
far I've gone snowboarding three times. The first type was at a ski hill where
there was a hotel, and it doesn't have many runs. There I had my first and only
lesson. I learned how to walk with my snowboard, stop when I’m going down a
hill, and a little bit on how to turn. My second time I went with a club at school
to a larger ski hill that is twice as long as the drive to the first ski hill I
went to. There I got a little bit better at snowboarding, but I still was
bad at turning. On my third ski trip and latest, I got way better at turning,
and I fell a lot less also. So far I have only gone on bunny hills, and I
haven’t gone on lifts, but soon I will go on the larger hills.
Out of all the things I wanted to tell you, I wanted to
tell you about me starting snowboarding. I choose this activity because I think
snowboarding is really cool, but also it’s the most recent thing I’ve done and
I remember it the most. Thank you for all of the letters you've sent me that I couldn't reply to. I hope you have a great year.
