Authors Note: This is a piece i wrote for the Patriots Pen writing contest. Look for how much of history I've described.

Dear Founding Fathers of America,
The United States of America have been put through some tough times, but has always pulled through in the end. We still elect a president to lead the nation and we still carry on with our lives. We have encountered wars and depressions, but with acts of courage, we are able to survive.
Since the country was founded, we have participated in many wars. The United States had a Civil War over slavery in which there were two sides, the North and the South. The North was called the Union and they wanted to abolish slavery. The South was called the Confederate States and they wanted to keep slavery so that they could maintain their wealth. The US joined in WW1 for a year, which centered in Europe before ending. Another war that the United States participated in is World War 2. We joined the war because of a personal attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. We  joined with the Allied Forces to defeat Germany and Japan. After WW2, the Cold War arose. The war was between the Soviet Union and the United States and centered on nuclear energy. The only war that the US has lost is the Vietnam War, which was an extension of the Cold War.
The biggest depression in United State’s history is known as the Great Depression. It existed across the entire globe and stopped at no one, not even the rich or the poor. Everyone lost money, and therefore the stock market crashed as everyone was selling their stocks to get more money. International trading took a hit as well because it took money to craft and ship the materials needed or wanted and not many had that kind of money. Many were jobs were lost due to this event and unemployment rate raised to an all-time high of 25%  in the US.
The United States has have their downfalls and up-rises like all countries have had at some point but thanks to your leadership skills, the United States, unlike other countries, have built a stable foundation and have been able to weather these attacks and rises on our economy and the people as a whole. People look to you still and thank you for being the leaders that you were in the past and hope that someday, there will be others who are like you.

Conflicts in Legend

There are 3 conflicts in the book Legend. All of them are man vs. man. First its Day vs. The Republic, Next its Day vs. June, and last its Day and June vs. the Republic.  The book ends with Day and June vs. the Republic.
How the first one doesn’t get resolved because the Republic is still trying to kill/capture Day at the End of the book when June teams up with him. Day vs. June started with Day supposedly killed June’s brother even though June’s brother dies from one of his friends. June finds out that her Brother’s friend killed her brother so she teamed up with Day.

A Jamaican Christmas

Authors Note: This is my Fall writing assessment for school. Look for how Jamaica is.

Last year for Christmas, I went to Jamaica. We went to a huge resort called Gran Bahia Principe with a long pool with a water polo goals and a pool bar, a long beach along the ocean and five really good restaurants.
On the day before Christmas Eve we went to a restaurant that only served a buffet. We met two Canadian Guys, a father and son.  The son was in hid low to mid 20’s, and his father was about 50. After they got up to get dessert they accidently table jumped when they sat down for dessert. The son came first and sat down thinking it was theirs and then the father sat down across from the son, he didn’t even look if it was his table. So the waitress came over and looked at their table and was thinking where did they go. My parents told me to say something to them and give them a hard time jokingly. We talked a little bit and then they left so we could eat our dinner. After we ate our dinner we went up to a lobby bar area and we got some drinks, and we saw them. We walked over to them and we talked. My sister kept on saying “eh”, and the son said “Hey that’s my thing”. After 45 minutes or so we left and went up to bed.
On Christmas Eve day we got up and went to the pool. While I was in the pool my parents met some other parents, they were from Canada, and they had a son about 10 years old then (I was 11). He was in the shallow end of the pool so I went over to him and introduced myself. He was playing catch with someone else and I just joined in. A bit later we went to the deeper end of the giant pool.  He and I became good friends at the resort. When my family and I would be in the lobby bar area in the resort and their family is there too, I would go to him.
On Christmas we went to the buffet place to have Christmas dinner. There was about anything that you might have for Christmas dinner. Turkey was the main dish. There was also little things like buns and stuff like that. After the dinner we went up to the lobby dinner area. My sister and I went up to bed after midnight and then later my parents came up and went to bed. For Christmas we brought really small stocks like the size of my dad’s feet. I got barely anything, just melted M&M’s and a pack of Extra Gum. We met my new friend at the pool and played a game of water polo. My dad, sister and I met someone from New Jersey, it was him and 3 other people from New Jersey, we just called him Jersey. My family and I ended that day by going to this one place where we heard was a good souvenir shop in the shopping part of the resort. We barely got anything from there but while we were at the souvenir shop there was a concert on this stage in one side of the shopping center. It was Jamaicans playing songs on drums and marimbas. They played the United States National Anthem and the Canadian National Anthem. It was really cool. Then after that my family and I went up to the lobby bar area. The next day we had to leave so we had to get out of the room by 10:00 on the way to the airport we had a private bus with only us in it. We went through towns and down the old highway. Our bus driver was pretty funny and on the back of the driver’s seat it said 007, so my family, him and I were joking around with that.
My trip to Jamaica was good, I made some friends, learned about a new culture, and had a great time there. I would like to go back to Jamaica and do more activities like zip lining. If I could go back there I would.

A Time When You Lose Only to One Point

Authors Note: This is my personal narrative essay for school. See how much you can see that happening.

I  was playing a soccer game in the middle of nowhere in Illinois, for a 4v4 tournament. It was the start of the game, my team was good but we didn’t  know how good the other team was. I didn’t start on the field, but I came in after a minute of play.  We scored a goal which made it 1-0. After 3 minutes the opponent scored a goal making it 1-1. About four minutes in, in the middle of the game, they scored another goal. Unluckily, 2-1 was the score, the other team was winning.
My Team was trying to get a goal to tie the game to go into overtime. However it was hard to get around the defenders because the field was so small. We took many shots. One after another. Again and again. We had shots but nothing was going in.
Now with one minute left in the game, we were desperate to get a goal. We had the ball and took a shot. It went wide and went out of bounds. They wasted time bringing it back in play. So now there was 30 seconds left. They had the ball but we quickly stole it back. We had time for one last shot and quickly brought the ball down the field. Now there was 10 seconds left. One of my teammates took a shot.
The goalie stopped it with his chest. The ref blew the whistle. Times up, my team lost by one point, just one. We had many chances, but couldn’t score. We watched the last two games and the team we lost to won both. They won the championship. My team was upset because we could’ve beaten them but didn’t pull it off. We lost by just one point.
